Alexandre Lefebvre graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Sixteen years later, he is one of the 2017 recipients of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 award.
In the sixteen years since completing his BAdm, Alexandre worked at Export Development Canada, obtained his MBA, and joined his family’s business, the Lefebvre Group. Founded in 1958, the company has grown to be one of the leaders in the construction material industry, present in every Canadian province as well as many countries around the world. Alexandre credits this success to his close working relationship with his siblings and an exceptional team. In fact, his work even brought him back to his alma mater: over the last two years, Lefebvre Group has been creating and providing the studs for the University of Ottawa’s current expansion project, and they will also be involved in the next stage of this project, which will begin shortly.
To this day, Alexandre has wonderful memories of his time at the University of Ottawa. His involvement in activities such as AIESEC and Les Jeux du Commerce allowed him to network and build relationships that have led him to where he is today. He said, “The years I spent at the University of Ottawa allowed me to develop relationships with people that I am still in touch with today. This taught me the importance of relationship building. Now, what matters to me as the leader of a business is to have a trusting relationship with our employees, clients and suppliers.”
When asked if he had any advice for current Telfer students, Alexandre emphasized this notion of building relationships. He said that good relationships are the key to success. In order to cultivate strong relationships, he suggests that students focus on two values: integrity and honesty.
