As a young man in high school, Jean Marc always thought he would study kinesiology as he hoped to run his own physiotherapy clinic. But after discussing his future plans with his high school guidance counselor, Jean Marc was persuaded to study business, which would eventually (and unknowingly) put him on a new career path that not even Jean Marc could have envisioned.
The Telfer School of Management helped Jean Marc build a foundation in business that was critical to his career. In fact, his career began on campus, where he was recruited by General Motors to work as a trainee in their service and parts sector. From that point on, his career progressed within the company, eventually leading him to be recruited by Honda in 1995 as the Regional Manager for the Acura brand in Ontario. After working in various positions at Honda throughout the years, Jean Marc recently took on his most challenging role yet: Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Honda’s automobile, motorcycle and power equipment divisions. Jean Marc is responsible for all facets of the automotive, motorcycle and power equipment brands in Canada, overseeing product planning, marketing and communications, transportation logistics, sales and customer engagement.
Currently, Jean Marc is looking forward to the transformative years ahead. “The changes that the automobile industry is going through are inspiring. Being able to tackle such changes with clarity and vision is something that I learnt early on during my time at Telfer and it’s something that I apply to my work every day”, says Jean Marc.
