Paul is currently the General Manager of the Canterbury Place for Verve Senior Living, a luxury retirement residence that focuses on personalized care and well-being for seniors. “The best thing about my job is the interaction with seniors and their families and helping them live every day to the max,” he says.
Prior to working for Verve Senior Living, formally known as Diversicare Healthcare Services Inc., Paul was the Executive Director for two Revera Inc. properties, President and CEO for ABC Fundamentals, Head of Marketing and Development for the National Ballet School, Director of Marketing and Fundraising for Variety – The Children’s Charity, Director of Fundraising and Business Development for the Canadian Hearing Society, Executive Director and CEO of Youth Science Foundation Canada and finally, Vice-President, Development and Administration, Secretary to the Board for the Toronto Zoo Foundation.
“Telfer helped me develop my critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills to build charitable organizations and now retirement residences into active, sustainable and profitable businesses,” Paul says. This is why he is now focusing on giving back by helping students and Telfer prepare for the future and remain relevant in the business community.
When asked what advice he would give to students, Paul said: “Plan your career carefully, but don’t forget to build life around family and personal interests. Also, treat every day as a learning experience.”
Having energy, an open mind, and never giving up on professional challenges are some of the key qualities that has made Paul so successful throughout his career.
