Lydia Di Francesco, MBA
Founder and Personal Trainer, 15 Minute Workout Club - Ottawa, ON, Canada

Lydia Di Francesco

For Lydia Di Francesco, MBA 2010, what started as a fun part-time job as a Group Fitness Instructor led to the discovery that she was passionate about helping women achieve physical and mental wellness. She turned that passion in a career: today, Lydia is the founder of Fit & Healthy 365, and just last month she founded the 15 Minute Workout Club, an online membership site with short, at-home workout videos. “I’m so excited to see all the amazing results my Workout Club members have gotten so far and I can’t wait to help even more women improve their health and lives!” she says.

After graduating from the Telfer MBA program in 2010, Lydia worked as a Marketing Strategist for a local marketing agency. During this time she also worked part-time as a Group Fitness Instructor and got her Personal Trainer certification. She then combined both skills in a personal training and marketing role with a fitness company. It was through these experiences that she was able to get to know how the industry worked and grow her client base. After almost two years, she left to pursue her goal of creating an online platform to help others live a healthy and optimal life. “The inspiration for creating this online membership site came out of speaking with countless women who wanted to train in-person with me, but found my location inconvenient. So, instead of coming to see me, I’m bringing the workouts to them via online workout videos.”

Lydia explains that the 15 Minute Workout Club is very unique as all the workouts are 15 minutes long or less and have a strong emphasis on self-care. “I know women are busy and usually put themselves last, leaving very little time for themselves”, she says. “These short, effective workouts maximize their time while increasing strength, shredding fat, and building stamina.”

Being a business owner, Lydia says that what she learned during her MBA at the Telfer School of Management helps her manage all aspects of the business, from content creation and marketing, to accounting and strategy: “Doing my MBA gave me a foundation of knowledge and skills that has helped me create a successful business.”

Lydia is also involved in the Ottawa community as the Chair of the Membership Committee for the Women's Business Network and as a Wardrobe Consultant for Dress for Success. She also appears as a regular guest on CTV Ottawa Morning Live and Rogers Daytime Ottawa.
