Geoff Lebano graduated from the Telfer School of Management in 2000 with a BCom, and from the outset, he wanted to build his own business. During his time in the CO-OP program, he was hired by Steve Parker and Christine Prins, and after graduation, he went to work for them as one of their company’s first staff accountants. He was quickly promoted to senior accountant and, after a merger with two other public firms, became accounting manager and a business partner with Steve Parker and Christine Prins, the same accountants who had given him his start in the business. In 2003, he achieved one of his proudest accomplishments: he became certified as a professional accountant (CPA, CA). In the longer term, Geoff Lebano would like to strengthen his skills in public accounting. He also wants to continue to provide his company’s clients with professional services of the highest quality. In short, Geoff Lebano stresses the importance of working with colleagues who share the same vision, values and interests, something he was able to do through the CO-OP program: “Quite frankly, I likely would not have met Steve Parker or Christine Prins if not for the University of Ottawa’s Co-operative Education Program. So, I guess you could say I owe my career to the program!”
