Chaohui Peng, MBA
Research analyst, Canada Revenue Agency - Ottawa, ON, Canada

Chaohui Peng

Originally from Guangzhou, China, Chaohui Peng is a Research analyst at Canada Revenue Agency. Facing rapid changes in all economic aspects in China, Chaohui believed a higher level of education would help him better manage these continuous challenges. In 1998, he chose to enroll in the Telfer School of Management’s MBA program. Before the MBA, he completed a two-year postgraduate level program in applied Mathematics in Zhongshan University, Guangzhou, China and a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Southeast University, Nanjing, China. Today, he still believes in the importance of good education on your personal life and in society.

“I believe that a better education system will help and support a better living environment for us all. Every year when I see my career make progress; I feel that it is due to my education and that is why I find it very important to give back to the Telfer School. It has given me so much.” – Chaohui Peng

While in the MBA program, Chaohui felt he would need more time to get to know Canada and to acquire work experience in a Canadian business environment. So he decided to apply for the permanent residency (PR) status in Canada. Shortly after his graduation of the MBA program, he was granted the PR status. He then found a three-month contracted work with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as a data entry clerk. After this three-month contract, he was promoted to a clerk position in a specialty services team and an estates returns processing and resource officer with a tax returns assessing team. He worked on these positions for several years.

In April 2006, he was hired by the Corporate Strategies and Business Development Branch of the CRA as a Research Statistician. He led a multi-disciplinary team, which was consisted of an IT analyst, an accounting specialist, and business experts, to complete several complex data analysis and statistical projects related to trust and estate taxes. After that, Chaohui continued to grow and move up within the CRA. He leads and conducts research for business lines operations and strategies.
