Sherry Noble joined Export Development Canada (EDC) in 1977 as a translator (French, German, Spanish to English) then decided to obtain her Master’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Ottawa, with a focus on international affairs. EDC is Canada's export credit agency, offering financial and risk management solutions to help Canadian businesses expand abroad. After returning to EDC in 1982, Sherry held positions of increasing responsibility in the Treasury and Business Development & Operations groups. Most of her career was spent in Business Development & Operations, where she gained experience across all lines of business and travelled to more than 30 countries.
In July 2003 Sherry joined EDC’s executive team as the Senior Vice-President of the newly created Business Solutions & Technology Group. Responsible for the information technology (IT) function, she structured the group to focus on internal client relations and lean project development; centralized the corporate IT strategy and budgeting; and oversaw modernization of several critical business systems. At the same time, Sherry acted as executive sponsor supporting EDC operations in key trading nations such as Russia, China and South Africa.
She also acted as an executive sponsor for the construction of EDC’s new head office, its largest project undertaken. Involving extensive stakeholder consultations, the new building was intended to create a modern and flexible work environment for its employees, adopting new environmental standards and more mobile technology. After successfully seeing EDC’s move to its new head office in 2010, Sherry retired at the end of the following year. She recently joined the Ottawa Telfer School Advisory Board.
Sherry received her undergraduate degree in Science in Language from Laurentian University and her Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Ottawa.
