As Managing Partner, Advisory Services for EY Canada, Anne-Marie Hubert (BAdm 1984) provides board members and senior management teams with strategic advice on governance, performance and risk management. When asked who inspires her the most, she said the people around her or who have been around her during her life: “Everyone brings a perspective and various experience that help us to grow. Allowing everyone to contribute their full potential is an ongoing challenge that will continue to inspire me every day.” Anne-Marie was awarded the Trudeau Medal at the 2015 Gala of Excellence.
A native of Maniwaki, QC, she decided to attend the Telfer School of Management because of its program offered in French. She quickly realized that as a result, she was surrounded by intelligent students and professors. One professor whom she particularly admired was Yvon Brosseau. She said: “[Prof. Brosseau had] an exceptional ability to communicate complex material simply. I really admired the quality of his teaching, his attention to detail and his advice, which had an impact on my career choices.”
After receiving her degree, Anne-Marie accepted a position with Clarkson Gordon and joined EY in 1985, where she still works today. “The firm offered me many opportunities in Canada and Europe and gave me the chance to contribute to our clients’ and our people’s success every day,” she said.
In her position at EY, she leverages the knowledge, experience and talent of key individuals from client teams and the global Firm to drive change. She has a track record of helping clients successfully rethink business models to create more solid foundations for growth and long-term competitive advantage while managing the risk of not attaining results.
Anne-Marie is well known for her positive attitude and her ability to bring people from diverse backgrounds together to achieve common goals. For over 30 years, her primary objective has been attracting, developing, and helping the best people achieve their full potential. She credits the School of Management for providing her with a sound knowledge base. “Telfer gave me excellent training for my professional success, and this training puts me in a position to help people succeed.”
From 2002 to 2006, she led EY Canada’s gender equity initiatives and served as the Canadian representative on the Americas Gender Equity Task Force. In December 2006, she received the Rosemary Meschi award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the advancement of women in the Americas. In December 2011, she was recognized for the fourth time as one of Canada’s 100 Top Most Powerful Women by the Women Executive Network and in June 2012, she was selected as one of three Champions of Women in Business chosen by Catalyst Canada. Last June, she received an honorary doctorate from Concordia University for her outstanding contribution to the advancement of women in business.
A member of the EY Global Advisory Council from 2007 to 2009 and EY Canada’s Executive Committee since 2009, Anne-Marie has established a reputation for challenging the status quo to make it easier for all our people to offer quality service and positively impact our economy and our communities. She also serves on the boards of the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (FCCQ), the Public Policy Forum, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Société des célébrations du 375e anniversaire de Montréal.
