Jon Bartlett, MBA
Founder, MEGAPHONO - Ottawa, ON, Canada

Jon Bartlett

Jon grew up in Fredericton, New Brunswick, founding Kelp Records while in university in 1994, going on to graduate with a Psychology degree, and aspirations to break into Toronto's music/film scene. After a few years in the Big Smoke, Jon grew weary of its ratrace and relocated to Ottawa, where love and musical inspiration awaited. Here he found a welcoming music scene, including bands such as the Acorn, HILOTRONS, Andrew Vincent & the Pirates and Jim Bryson, to name but a few. Kelp has gone on to produce 65 records in its 17-year span.

In 2010, Jon founded a new company called MEGAPHONO, to build on the musical base that has been established through Kelp the previous 17 years. MEGAPHONO is a sync music licensing company, pitching music for film, television, advertising, video games and new media. Jon's artists have worked with brands such as Old Navy, Hershey, Budweiser, NFL, and appeared on television programs such as The United States of Tara (Showtime), Damages (FX), The Border (CBC), and a host of other film and television productions. MEGAPHONO.TV will launch in early 2011, representing an array of original, independent music for sync licensing purposes.
